Identifying the Effects of Sanctions on the Iranian Economy Using Newspaper Coverage

This paper considers how sanctions affected the Iranian economy using a novel measure of intensity based on daily newspaper coverage. It finds to have significant effects exchange rates, inflation, and output growth, with rial over-reacting sanctions, followed up rise in inflation fall output. In absence Iran's average annual growth could been around 4 - 5 per cent, as compared 3 cent realized. Sanctions are also found adverse employment, labor force participation, secondary high-school education, such amplified for females.
